چکیده

The necessary and sufficient condition for beamforming optimality for multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) systems with mean feedback has been derived and thoroughly investigated in this article. The condition is an inequality that contains parameters of the number of antennas, transmission power, and the singular values of channel mean matrix. When the beamforming optimality condition is satisfied, the Shannon capacity of MIMO system can be achieved by beamforming and hence scalar codes can therefore be used to achieve the maximum capacity. The channel is modeled as the sum of a scattering matrix of i.i.d zero mean, unit variance complex Gaussian random variables, and a mean matrix having its rank r ≥ 1. The beamforming condition inequality performance versus system parameters of signal-to-noise ratio and Ricean factor have thoroughly been investigated by numerical results. Computer simulations show that the beamforming strategy can be adopted on a relatively relaxed beamforming condition without the loss of capacity performance.

Distance-Aware Beamforming for Multiuser Secure Communication Systems

Typical cryptography schemes are not well suited for low complexity types of equipment, e.g., Internet of things (IoT) devices, as they may need high power or impose high computational complexity on the device. Physical (PHY) layer security techniques such as beamforming (in multiple antennas systems)  are possible alternatives to provide security for such applications. In this paper, we consid...

Does Beamforming achieve Outage Capacity with Direction Feedback?

We explore the outage capacity of an isotropic fading vector channel with multiple transmit antennas at the base station and a single antenna at the mobile receiver. Perfect channel knowledge is assumed to be available at the receiver while the transmitter has only partial knowledge of the direction of the user’s channel vector based on quantized feedback. We provide a proof technique to determ...

Optimality of beamforming in multiple transmitter multiple receiver communication systems with partial channel knowledge

In this paper we consider a narrowband point-to-point MIMO communication system with nT transmit antennas and nR receive antennas, and we assume that the receiver has perfect knowledge of the channel. We consider two canonical cases of partial channel feedback: (a) where the mean channel is fed back to the transmitter and the channel covariance is assumed to be white with known magnitude, and (...

We show that the proposed beamforming system outperforms conventional beamforming system by increasing the data rate.

Channel capacity and beamforming for multiple transmit and receive antennas with covariance feedback

Abstract—We consider the capacity of a narrowband point to point communication system employing multiple-element antenna arrays at both the transmitter and the receiver with covariance feedback. Under covariance feedback the receiver is assumed to have perfect Channel State Information (CSI) while at the transmitter the channel matrix is modeled as consisting of zero mean complex jointly Gaussi...
